A poetic fusion of young minds of mix creed, gender and race looking for a platform for expression during these troubled times of international feuds and epidemic outbreaks. The gathering has been taking place for about 7 years.
This is the birth spot for the SLAM poetry event that has taken poetry to into competitive platform of spoken word poetry delivered to a stark raving crowd of young street philosophers and aspiring writers. From your traditional praise poets, to the mystics, story tellers, writers, mcees and published poets –the venue is the Functions Room@ the BAT Centre every Wednesday.

Poets of the NOWADAYZ circle and the BASADZI circle continue to personally graduate to participate in annual international South African Poetry events i.e. POETRY AFRICA and URBAN VOICES

The BAT Centre is an art development and community center located within the small Craft Harbour off Durban’s Victoria Embankment. It contains a number of retail outlets, a restaurant, bar and large hall fitted with sound and lighting equipment. There are large art studios, a number of exhibition galleries, music practice rooms, a dance studio, resource center and a conference room. A computer shop, repair and training service and offices for independent arts organizations complete the picture.
